![]() Currently the region of the Caribbean is experiencing higher than normal amounts of seaweed. We sincerely apologize if there was any misunderstanding while our guest service and security teams were following the corresponded protocols to assist you at that moment, please be certain that all your feedback has reached our Management. It is with great sadness that we learn of an overall disappointing experience. We are so thankful to know you found your room to be spacious, the pool to be beautiful and the views to be spectacular. More Show lessĭear lovestotravel256, Thank you for taking the time you have invested in writing an overview of your stay with us. Not only would we not come back to this one, we’re not likely to book one anywhere else. There are Secrets resorts all over the Caribbean and Mexico. Not even an “I’m sorry” from the manager. At the very least, we thought we should have been comped for some extra-cost resort option (spa treatment, romantic dinner on the beach) but nada. A front desk staff member wrote down all my comments and said she would deliver them to the manager. And when I asked for the hotel manager, to indicate all our disappointments, I was told she was in a meeting. The staff made no attempt to reschedule our reservation for another night. But on the appointed day, we received notice that for “health and safety” reasons, the hibachi would be closed that night. To add to our disappointments, we made a reservation for the hibachi restaurant, which we thought would be a pleasant change from the ho-hum. Our only option - to pull the plug on the TV for the rest of the week. A maintenance staff member, tried a “fix” after the first occurrence, but that night, it went off again. BAD STUFF - The first two nights, our TV inexplicably turned itself on, with no human intervention, at 2:30am and 12am respectively. By the end of the week, we had trouble deciding on a restaurant because we knew the menu options didn’t change, and we had yet to have anything really good. The Pad Thai was made with wheat, rather than rice, noodles and bore little resemblance to traditional Pad Thai. The next evening, we tried the Asian Fusion option. My Caesar salad had no dressing and I could have used the bread as a hockey puck. Although I asked for medium rare, it was closer to medium well. The next evening, we tried another restaurant, which was featuring steak night. The food was palatable, but nothing to write home about. But we waited for over an hour for our main. Appetizers came out quickly, and were ok. Our waiter could not explain what one of the items was and forgot to put in the order for our main course. But our initial experience left a bad first impression. The website pictures made the dining options look so appealing. NOT-SO-GOOD STUFF - we were disappointed by the quality of the food. Simple fare, but well prepared and very tasty. The food at the poolside Barefoot Grill provided our best meals all week. Staff were friendly and (mostly) attentive. The pool was beautiful, and the view of the ocean cove from the pool area was spectacular. Ample supplies of towels and toiletries plenty of closet and drawer space a pleasant, if not inspired, view. GOOD STUFF FIRST - our room was spacious, and was well-tended. The website for Secrets seemed to have all that we were looking for. We were looking for an all-adult, all-inclusive resort getaway in the Caribbean. ![]()
